An IYC community promotion series.
Hello everyone!! Continuing with our Featured Designer series, we have a new designer to showcase today!
For everyone new here…All along the month of August, India yarn circle is giving an opportunity to knit and crochet designers to feature a design on our blog.
Each week we are going to promote an Indian Designer and one of their famous patterns with all the details about their journey and love for crafts, to the detail of the design and thought process.
Today we are featuring Komal of Mia Designs

A quick Intro from her –
I am Komal. Just like you I am a creative head too. When I am not busy reading fiction I am mostly hooked on crochet. It’s been a very fulfilling journey since the day I discovered what magic a hook and some yarn can create. Visit my blog to get your hands on so many free as well as paid crochet patterns.
You can find Komal on instagram at @miadesignsbykomal

Komal is sharing her begginer top today with us. Its a simple crochet top which is mostly a square shape with square neck and crochet edge.

PATTERN DETAILS
Gauge information- Size Small
Difficulty level – Beginner
The pattern is written using US crochet stitch terminology. Here hook size 4 mm (US G/6 or UK 8) is used. The tension is 16 double crochet x 8 rows = 10 cm/4” in width and 10 cm/4” height.
The hook size is only a guide. Change to a larger/ smaller hook size, if there are too many/ few stitches in 4″ or 10cm gauge.
To make this top you will need following material
- Cotton DK weight yarn – Laura knitting cotton- colour light grey (M) 350g ,dark purple (S1) – 150g, light purple (S2) – 50g
- Hook- 4mm
- Scissors
- Markers to mark important stitches
- Yarn needle to weave in the ends
- Measuring tape
Finished measurements:
Chest measures 92 cm or 36” and full length 56 cm or 22”.
The garment will tend to measure more when held up, hence measure the final length of the piece while holding it up.
Short overview:
Front and back pieces are worked back and forth separately, bottom up. Then right shoulder and left shoulder are worked. The garment is sewn together after both sides are done. Lastly bobble edging is done on the sleeves and simple single crochet edging is done on the nech and bottom.
