Envie-a-Hexie Doily CAL – Week 1

It’s finally time!! We are officially starting the Envie-a-Hexie CAL!!!

Envie-a-Hexie Doily

Materials

Baroque size20 thread was used in the sample

Hook

1.1 mm

Gauge

rounds 1-3 of the main pattern measure 2.25inches using the above thread and hook.

Stitches and abbreviations

Chain – ch
Slip stitch – sl st
Single crochet – sc
Double crochet – dc
Shell – (2dc, ch2, 2dc)
Picot – ch3, slipstitch on top of st just completed

Finished size

15 inches across

Notes

Ch3 counts as first dc unless specified otherwise

Doily ruffles after round 17 but will settle with blocking.

Instructions

Round 1: Using magic circle, ch3 (counts as first dc from now on), 23 dc in the circle. Join to top of beginning ch3 with sl st. (24 dc)

(Note: if not using magic circle, chain 12, join to first chain with sl st to make a circle and then ch3, 23 dc in the ring)

Round 2: Ch3, 1 dc in next st, * ch2, 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, repeat from * around and join to top of beg ch3 with a dc to create the last ch sp. (24 dc, 12 ch2 spaces).

Round 3: Ch3, 1 dc in space created by the joining, ch1, *shell in the next space, ch1, repeat from * around end by working 2 dc in the first space, join to top of beg ch3 with a dc. (12 shells, 12 ch spaces)

Round 4: Ch3, 2dc in the sp created by the join, ch3, sc in next ch1 sp, ch3, *3dc in the next sp, ch3, sc in next ch1 sp, ch3, repeat from * around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch3. (12 3dc groups, 12 sc, 24 ch3 spaces)

Round 5: Ch3, 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, 2dc in the next ch3 sp, ch2, sk next sc, 2 dc in the next ch3 sp, 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts, ch3, sk next ch3 sp, 3 dc in the next sc, sk next ch3 sp, ch3 * 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts, 2dc in the next ch3 sp, ch2 ,sk next sc, 2 dc in the next ch3 sp, 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts, ch3, sk next ch3 sp, 3 dc in the next sc, sk next ch3 sp , ch3, repeat from * around ending by joining with sl st to top of beg ch3.

Round 6: Sl st in next st, ch3, 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts, 2 dc in ch2 space, 1 dc in each of the next 4 sts, ch3, sc in next ch space, ch3, sc in 2nd dc of the 3dc group, ch3, sc in next ch sp, ch3, * skip 1 dc, 1 dc in each of the next 4 sts, 2dc in ch2 sp, 1 dc in each of the next 4 sts, ch3, sc in next sp, ch3, sc in 2nd dc of the 3dc group, ch3, sc in next sp, ch3, Repeat from * around and end by joining with sl st to top of beg ch3.

Round 7: Sl st in next st, ch3, 1 dc in each of the next 7sts, ch3, skip 1 dc, (sc in next sp, ch3)4 times, skip 1 dc, * 1 dc in each of the next 8 sts, ch3, skip 1 dc, (sc in next sp, ch3)4 times, skip 1 dc, repeat from * around ending by joining with sl st to top pf beg ch3.

Round 8: Sl st in the next st, ch3, 1 dc in each of the next 5 sts, ch3, (sc in next ch sp, ch3) twice, 3dc in the next ch sp, ch3, (sc in next ch sp, ch3) 2 times, *skip 1 dc, 1 dc in each of the next 6 sts, ch3, skip 1 dc, (sc in next ch sp, ch3) twice, 3dc in the next ch sp, ch3, (sc in next ch sp, ch3)2 times, repeat from * around join to top of beg ch3.

Round 9: Sl st in the next st, ch3, 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts, (ch3, sc in next ch sp) 3 times, ch3, sc in 2nd dc of the 3dc group, ch3, (sc in next sp, ch3) 3 times, skip 1 dc, * 1 dc in each of the next 4sts, skip 1 dc, (ch3, sc in next ch sp) 3 times, ch3, sc in 2nd dc of the 3dc group, ch3, (sc in next sp, ch3) 3 times, skip 1 dc, Repeat from * around join to top of beg ch3.

Rnd 10: Sl st in next st, sc in between 2nd and 3rd dc, ch5, *(sc in next sp, ch5) 8 times, sc between 2nd and 3rd dc, ch5, repeat from * around end by joining to top of sc with ch2, 1 dc.

Rnd 11: Ch1, sc in the same sp created by the join, *ch5, sc in next sp, repeat from * around. Join to top of first sc with ch2, 1 dc.

Rnd 12: Repeat round 11.
